How do you make STALKER run in English. Discussion in 'General Gaming' started by Flogger23m, Aug 18, 2009. Go download this if you want a good first experience. There's a bug whereby if you are in one of the radiation dead zones in the Garbage, for example, and you get the prompt for the level change, if you decline you end up. .

Stalker Dead Air Download
Hello Folks,
I just want to share my love for a recent combination of mods for 'STALKER - Call of Pripyat.'
At the end this post, you'll find some VERY IMPORTANT INSTALLATION notes that you do NOT want to ignore.
The first mod, the base for the two, is 'Call of Chernobyl.' You can get it from here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl
The second mod, that's installed after the first, is 'Arsenal Overhaul.' There are SEVERAL versions of this great mod, so you want to make sure you get the version specially made for Call of Chernobyl. You can get it from here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/arsenal-overhaul
What do these mods do exactly?
Call of Chernobyl combines every single STALKER map together into ONE world, plus it adds an extra one as well. It's currently a work in progress, and its main purpose was to supply a base for other people's mods. So, even though it's a 'basic' mod, what it does have is terrific.
It's totally open-world. Go wherever you want, whenever you want. Pick from any of the factions, and then live out the consequences right from the very beginning. There is no main, overarching story. However, there are 11-12 different mission types that one can get from any of the NPCs in the region. There are certain 'main' NPC's that are more likely to give you certain types of missions than not, but even the 'ordinary' NPC's might have a request or two for you. You just have to ask.
Faction battles, similar to those found in STALKER - Clear Sky are also integrated. From my experience, one must first successfully rescue a hostage before the other faction members will trust you enough to lead them throughout The Zone. One can sell or donate better equipment to them, and they'll automatically use it. This is a VERY important detail to know. I had to escort a couple of scientists to a location, and I was very happy to donate some looted AKs to them. They used them instead of their puny pistols to help fend off a mutant horde attack.
What I love about this mod's framework, is that it completely opens up the role-playing possibilities. One can literally do whatever one wants.
The Atmosfear mod is already integrated into Call of Chernobyl. One can use it to setup all kinds of weather throughout The Zone, as well as stipulate what occurs during blowouts and psi-storms.
Of particular menace is a working Military hind helicopter. To me, at this point, it's very overpowered as an enemy, but I'm hopeful that adjustments will be made to it in the future.
Another region that needs some improvement is a better stocking of life in the underground portions of the maps. Still, in my opinion, this is a far superior gaming experience than the default version of Call of Pripyat.
ModDB's Call of Chernobyl page has an Addons tab that leads to a bunch of other mods that have already been adapted to work with Call of Chernobyl (just make sure that they've been updated to the latest CoC release candidate).
Arsenal Overhaul will add 100+ weapons and new gear into one's Call of Chernobyl experience. This mod is SUPERB. All of the possible upgrades are logical, and not too constricting in one's desires to enhancing one's weaponry and gear. And wait till you see what Nimble has to offer...
Between these two mods, I have had some INSANE encounters. Multiple factions ruthlessly battling one another on one map, with a couple of these encounters lasting over half an hour! Intense and insane!
I had a blowout and psi-storm manifest within minutes of one another, and the main Loner base in Cordon became overrun with a zombie horde that had the Military eating at its edges from one flank, and the Loner's shooting at it from another, with each faction taking potshots at one another whenever an opportunity permitted it. I've only wandered through four territories, and it's already a very satisfying experience. I haven't even thought of touching Far Cry 3 since. And that says a lot.
INSTALLATION CONCERNS:
I made a couple of mistakes installing this mod, and the consequences were time consuming and headache inducing. The good news is that I can help you avoid ALL of the these negatives!
(1) Call of Chernobyl is going to DETECT your installation of Call of Pripyat. Please note, however, that when it comes to actually installing the mod, you DO NOT WANT IT IN THE SAME DIRECTORY as Call of Pripyat. This will lead to all kinds of errors! Just instruct it to install on your C Drive, and you'll be fine.
(2) Install the Call of Chernobyl patch! Don't skip it!
(3) Install the latest release of Arsenal Overhaul that is specially made for Call of Chernobyl. Arsenal Overhaul's contents go into Call of Chernobyl's directory - don't put it into Call of Pripyat!
(4) If adding in any of the mods specially made for Call of Chernobyl, do so AFTER Arsenal Overhaul has been installed. If it wants to overwrite any of Arsenal Overhaul's files, DECLINE it. This can be a bit time-consuming, but it isn't hard to do. Trust me, you want to keep Arsenal Overhaul's files intact. It is an essential component to having a wonderful experience.
That's it!
Happy hunting stalkers!
